Brook Elliston

Bio

Brooke is a globally travelling yoga teacher and co-founder of Back2Roots Retreats, hosting transformative yoga and meditation immersions around the world. Forever a student, she revels in the opportunity to connect with new communities and share the inner alchemy of the practice that has opened infinite portals of growth in her own life.

She has been guided by some extraordinary teachers, schools and swamis, most notably studying extensively the ancient teachings of Yoga and Tantra at her school in Thailand, which are the underpinning of her teaching style. Her classes weave together the threads of traditional teachings into a slow paced flow ~ a deep burn of sensory explosions, with a meditative and poetic approach.

Brooke has a dedicated practice and is constantly driven to explore and stay curious. She is an ambassador for Lululemon, Casall Training and Nakula Organics and when she’s in Australia, teaches at BodyMindLife studios in Sydney.

A Touch of Zen

Within each of us resides a deep yearning to contribute and make an impact. Often we think the impact needs to be monumental to be powerful. It doesn’t. If we touch one person and invoke a shift, create a change, the whole world changes.

When you touch anything, you touch everything – Thich Nhat Hanh

In this professional development workshop, we explore the wisdom of Zen Thai Shiatsu Massage, and apply it to the art of assisting in the yoga practice. Each movement in Zen Thai is called a gesture ~ the equivalent to a full body mudra .

As we enter the conversation between bodies, our whole body becomes the instrument ~ simultaneously listening and transmitting through touch, and giving us a whole new vocabulary to invite our students into the deeper, meaning making aspects of the yoga practice.
